I’ve brushed through
the yielding prairie grasses
jumped from the tops
of the highest mountains
I’ve tossed oceans ashore
flooded the landscape
lifted trees from the ground
breaking their trunks
I’ve whispered through
the crevices of dense forest
ruffled a hatchling’s feathers
kissed the beak of a singing bird
I’ve spread new life
lifted the wings of eagles
explored the world
claimed no home
I’ve arrived in many forms
had many names
still you always know me
the breath of the earth
